the first time i heard frances ruffelle’s éponine, i didn’t like her. i thought she sounded like a frog. but now that i’ve read the brick and understand éponine better, i have come to love frances, as well as the entire obc and olc.

i don’t understand why there isn’t more love for terrence mann’s javert. his was the first javert i heard in “one day more”, and i can’t listen to anyone else because nobody nearly laughs saying “schoolboys”.

braden danner’s gavroche is the only voice on the obc that i prefer over all others.

i can’t stand the obc recording. i’m perfectly okay with the actors having british accents in a musical set in france, but the occasional american twang just sets my teeth on edge.
